
Marciac, FRANCE: (FILES) File picture of Latin jazz giant Ray Barretto, performing with his his New World Spirit quintet during the music festival « Jazz In Marciac, 13 August 2002. Barretto, who underwent two heart operations in the last month, died in New Jersey 17 February 2006, hospital officials said. He was 76. In 1990, Barretto won a Grammy for the song « Ritmo en el Corazon » (Rhythm in the Heart), which featured the vocals of salsa queen Celia Cruz.
